Oh oh, water in the basement doesn't sound too good. Great that you record your students and that they get such a kick out of it. It is a great way to demonstrate progress over the course of a school year.
With the heavy rain it was coming in from the side of the house under the foundation....no way to prevent it. Thank goodness it stopped raining last night. Carpet is a little soggy but nothing the shop vac and heater/fan won't fix up today. Just hoping we don't get more torrential downpours.
The group of students who did this project were an EAL group and one student who uses an augmentative device to speak. The weren't as comfortable narrating the whole story that they wrote together. Usually the students do their own narrating too. We have done several projects together and they are all getting quite comfortaable now with using the technology themselves and doing their own editing too. Audacity makes it easy for them to do that.
I am a Student Service Teacher who does Literacy Support for K-4 students and Behaviour Support for students from K-8. I have been teaching at my current school for the last 5 years and prior to that I was a West Coast girl, born and raised and never in a million years thought that I would end up living in Winnipeg, MB. I am currently 2 courses shy of completing my Grad Dip and will be transferring everything into the Masters course route when I'm done. One of my passions is promoting multiage classrooms. I Co-Chair the Manitoba Association of Multiage Educators and love collaborating and finding different kinds of PD opportunities to share with fellow multiage teachers in Manitoba.

I love to hear your stories of your young students using these applications. Your projects sound great.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your water problems but glad to hear they are not as serious as some other people are experiencing. Still extra work and cleaning.
